Swadhishthan is not a thought idea but a developing one. A group led by young Onil Kulkarni who wished to help the needy during drought of 2013.
Later with success of water distribution i.e. Trishna project, there was a dream developing in Onil’s mind which led him to pursue his education in the field of social work and have a better perspective to develop this youth group into NGO.
The journey from various distribution drives to concrete awareness and sustainability programmes defines the milestones which Swadhishthan has achieved and come up as a Non Governmental Organization for the ideological empowerment of the society.
Swadhishthan was awarded ‘Jagruti Puraskar 2013’ by Awake India Youth Association for its dedicated and valuable contribution in the field of social service.
Journalists And Social Workers Welfare Association recognized & appreciated Swadhishthan’s work and felicitated its team with the memento.
Navjeevan Lokvikas Sanstha recognized & appreciated Swadhishthan’s contribution in the field of education.

Onil is a professional social work practitioner. He has completed Master of Social Work (MSW) and P. G. Diploma in Child Rights & Child Protection from College of Social Work Nirmala Niketan, Mumbai. Onil has graduated in Political Science from University Of Mumbai. His additional qualification includes certificate courses in Social Work and Journalism. He has more than 4 years of experience in the field of social work. Onil is a dedicated youngster who believes in Social Change. He has worked on various social issues such as Gender Based Discrimination & Violence, Child Rights Violation, Environment Degradation etc. and honoured with various awards for his contribution in the field.
Kush has completed Bachelors in Computer Science from University Of Mumbai and currently preparing for civil services. He has been quite active in social and cultural events during his college life through which he imbibed qualities of leadership as well as team work. Contributing to the society has always been his activity as a sensitive citizen.
Chanchal has completed Bachelors in Arts (Geography) and Bachelors in Education. She is also pursuing Visharad (Bachelors degree) in Indian Classical dance, Kathak. She is currently working as a dance teacher for Pre-primary section in a recognized International school and has worked as a Pre-primary teacher for one and half years in the same school. Chanchal has a love for nature which always keeps her involve in environment related activities such as awareness campaigns, workshops, rallies etc.
Chinmay is a Law student at University Of Mumbai. He has completed Post Graduation Diploma in Child Rights and Child Protection from University Of Mumbai. His additional qualification includes Certificate Course in English Common Law: Structure and Principles from University Of London and Children's Human Rights: An Interdisciplinary Introduction from University Of Geneva. Chinmay believes in Legal Literacy and Access in Justice to all. He has a special interest in laws and policies related to women and children.
Shweta, a social worker by profession wishes to make changes in societal ideology through the thought of changing self to see the change. A graduate in English Literature, Shweta also holds P. G. Diploma in Child Rights and Child Protection along with a Master of Social Work (MSW) from College of Social Work Nirmala Niketan, Mumbai. She has also completed a certificate course in Journalism. Shweta is an enthusiastic and creative person who loves arts and crafts. She has an experience of working with children for 3 years as a professional social work intern, as well as she has also worked in the field of Environment Sustainability.
Varad has completed B.Com. from University Of Mumbai and currently pursuing Masters in Labour Studies (MLS) from Late Narayan Meghaji Lokhande Maharashtra Institute of Labour Studies, Mumbai. Varad has a passion for social work and believes in social equity. He loves to explore new places and always involved in various adventurous activities like trekking, rock climbing, rappelling etc.
Snehal is a social worker by profession. She has completed Masters of Social Work (MSW) and Diploma in Social Work (DSW) from College of Social Work Nirmala Niketan, Mumbai. She has graduated in Commerce from University Of Mumbai. She has also completed Diploma in Human Resource Management from Welingkar Institute of Management. Snehal has more than 6 years of experience in the social sector and has worked on Education, Juvenile Justice System and Tribal & Rural Development. Snehal strongly believes on rights based approach and dignity of an individual.
Akshay has completed BMS (Finance) and currently pursuing M.Com. from University Of Mumbai. He is associated with Swadhishthan since 2014. He is currently working in a private firm as GIS Analyst I. Akshay is a determined youngster aiming to make social change. He has participated in various social activities such as promoting Green Health, Education etc. and felicitated for his active participation.
Suraj is a yoga and fitness trainer by profession. He has completed professional course in Yoga and Naturopathy. His additional qualification includes certificate courses in Civil Defence, Journalism and Social Work. Suraj runs his own yoga and fitness centre in Navi Mumbai and envisions healthy and disease free society.
Kaveri is associated with Swadhishthan since 2015. She has completed her graduation in Commerce from University Of Mumbai and currently pursuing Diploma in Human Resource Management from Welingkar Institute of Management, Mumbai. Kaveri is a hard working person and has passion for working in the social sector.
I'm DEEYA(Development through Education Exposure and Youth Action) project Coordinator at Swadhishthan. I have completed my bachelor of engineering in electrical engineering. My role as a project coordinator is to arrange Family Life Education sessions in different schools for adolescent childrens. While taking these sessions at different schools I have realized that braking of stereotypical patriarchal thought process is very much essential.
